The (S)-tert-butyl 4-(3-(1-(1,3-dioxoisoindolin-2-yl)ethyl)benzyl)piperazine-1-carboxylate from the previous step (490 mg, 1.09 mmol) was dissolved in 5 mL hydrazine and stirred at ambient temperature for 16 h. The solvent was removed at reduced pressure and the resulting (S)-tert-butyl 4-(3-(1-aminoethyl)benzyl)piperazine-1-carboxylate was used in the next step without additional purification.
