Reaction Steps
Gemifloxacin free base (3 gm) is added to methylene dichloride (65 ml) at 25-30° C., ethanol (20 ml) is added to form a clear solution. To the solution, lactic acid (0.6ml) is added at 25-30° C., stirred for 1 hour and then cooled to 10° C. Filtered the solid and dried at 50-l 55° C. to give 3 gm of gemifloxacin lactate (HPLC Purity: 99.93%).
