A solution of ethyl 6-{[5-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl]methyl}-1-benzothiophene-2-carboxylate (70 mg, 0.18 mmol) in THF (2.5 mL) was treated with 1M KOH solution (0.89 mL, 0.89 mmol) and stirred at ambient temperature for 12 hours. The reaction was partitioned between 1M HCl and ethyl acetate. The organics were dried over sodium sulfate, filtered and evaporated to give the title compound as a white solid. LC/MS (EI): cal'd 367.0 (MH+), exp 367.0 (MH+).
