Procedure

Prepared by reduction of 1-[2-(2-nitrophenyl)-2-oxoethyl]-3-methyl-7-(2-butyn-1-yl)-8-[(R)-3-(tert-butyloxycarbonylamino)piperidin-1-yl]xanthine with sodium dithionite in a mixture of methyl glycol and water (3:2) at 100° C. Rf value: 0.50 (silica gel, cyclohexane/ethyl acetate (4:6)).
