A mixture of 2.88 g of 2-(2-amino-3-methylphenyl)propan-2-ol and 2.14 g of urea is stirred in a sealed vessel at 150° C. over 6 hours. The reaction mixture is cooled to room temperature, admixed with diethyl ether, clarified by filtration and concentrated by evaporation. The title compound is obtained as a beige solid from the residue by means of flash chromatography (SiO2 60F). Rf=0.22 (1:2 EtOAc-heptane); Rt=3.46.
