Procedure
A solution of 6-chloro-8-diethylphosphonomethoxymethyl-N9-neopentylpurine (1 mmol) in THF-DMSO was treated with liquid ammonia (10 mmol) at 25° C. for 6 h. Extraction and chromatography afforded 8-diethylphosphonomethoxymethyl-N9-neopentyladenine as a white solid. TLC: Rf=0.44, 25% MeOH-EtOAc.
