Procedure
2 ml of acetone was added to 50.7 mg (0.100 mmol) of 4-(3-chlorophenyl)-2,6-dimethyl-1,4-dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid mono (3,3-diphenylpropyl) ester. 130 mg (0.240 mmol) of cerium ammonium nitrate suspended in 1 ml of water was added and stirred at room temperature for 10 minutes. After adding water and extracting with ethyl acetate, the organic layer was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and then concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain the title compound.
