Procedure
Methyl 1-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yl)-5-p-tolyl-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylate (363 mg, 0.70 mmol) was dissolved in a mixture of MeOH/THF/H2O (1:2:1, 4 mL). Lithium hydroxide was added and the reaction mixture was stirred for 16 hrs. The reaction mixture was diluted with water and washed with DCM. The aqueous phase was evaporated. 1-(Tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yl)-5-p-tolyl-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid (205 mg, quantitative) was obtained as a white solid which was used without further purification in the next step.
