Procedure
Methyl 1-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yl)-5-nitro-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylate (500 mg, 0.70 mmol) was dissolved in a mixture of MeOH/THF/H2O (1:2:1, 20 mL). Lithium hydroxide (56.3 mg, 2.35 mmol) was added and the reaction mixture was stirred for 16 hrs. The reaction mixture was diluted with water and washed with DCM. The aqueous phase was evaporated which gave 1-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yl)-5-nitro-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid (300 mg, 64%) as a white solid which was used without further purification in the next step.
