Procedure
A mixture of Cyclopropyl-(4,6-dichloro-pyrimidin-5-yl)-methanone (0.75 g, 3.5 mmol), anhydrous hydrazine (0.13 mL, 4.1 mmol) and THF (35 mL) was stirred at room temperature for 4 hours. The reaction was partitioned between water and EtOAc. The organic layer was washed with brine, dried and passed through a short silica gel pad to give 4-Chloro-3-cyclopropyl-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidine (0.50 g, 74%) as a white solid. 1H NMR (CDCl3, 400 MHz) δ 11.87 (s, 1H), 8.80 (s, 1H), 2.55 (m, 1H), 1.15 (m, 2H), 1.14 (m, 2H).
