tert-Butyl 4-(2-(dibenzylamino)ethyl)piperidine-1-carboxylate (5.0 g, 12.25 mmol, 1 eq) was dissolved in dichloromethane (100 ml) and cooled to 0° C. TFA (25 ml) was added dropwise at that temperature and then stirring was carried out for 1 h at RT. After monitoring by thin-layer chromatography, the reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure. The crude product was used in the next stage without being purified further.
