Benzyl 2,2-dimethyl-4-(4-methylpiperazin-1-yl)cyclohexylcarbamate (0.5 g, 1.393 mmol, 1 eq) was dissolved in MeOH (6 ml); Pd(OH)2 (150 mg) was added, and hydrogenation was carried out for 2 h at RT under balloon pressure (H2). After monitoring by thin-layer chromatography, the reaction mixture was filtered off over Celite and the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure. The desired product was thus obtained and was used in the next stage without being purified further. Yield: 95% (300 mg, 1.33 mmol).
