tert-Butyl 4-((4-methoxybenzyl)(methyl)amino)-3,3-dimethylpiperidine-1-carboxylate (1.87 g, 5.17 mmol, 1 eq) was dissolved in dichloromethane (4 ml); TFA (4 ml) was added at 0° C., and stirring was carried out for 2 h at RT. The reaction solution was concentrated under reduced pressure, taken up in toluene and dried again. The crude product was used in the next stage without being purified further.
