Procedure
8-(Pyridin-4-yl)-1,4-dioxa-8-azaspiro[4.5]decane (2.6 g, 11.82 mmol, 1 eq) was dissolved at 0° C. in ice-cooled concentrated HCl (15 ml), and stirring was carried out for 10 min. After monitoring by thin-layer chromatography, the reaction mixture was adjusted to pH 10-12 with 2 N NaOH and extracted with chloroform (3×100 ml). The combined organic phases were washed with water and sat. NaCl solution (in each case 150 ml), dried over sodium sulfate and reduced under reduced pressure. The product so obtained was used in the next stage without being purified further.
