A solution of benzyl 1-(2-methoxy-6-methylpyrimidin-4-yl)piperidin-4-yl(methyl)carbamate (400 mg, 1.0810 mmol, 1 eq) in methanol (6 ml) was degassed for 20 min with argon, and then Pd(OH)2 (200 mg) was added. The reaction mixture was stirred for 3 h at room temperature under a hydrogen atmosphere (balloon), and then the catalyst was filtered off. The filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure. The crude product so obtained was in the form of a colourless liquid, which was used in the next stage without being purified further. Yield: 94% (240 mg, 1.0169 mmol)
