Procedure
2 ml (0.015 mol) of n-pentyl nitrite are added to 4.1 g (0.01 mol) of 5-amino-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-3-methyl-4-trifluoromethylthio-pyrazole in 30 ml benzene at room temperature with stirring, and the mixture is stirred for a further 15 hours at room temperature. The mixture is worked up by concentrating in vacuo and the residue is purified by chromatography (silica gel; eluant: petroleum ether/ethyl acetate 9:1). 2.3 g (49% of theory) of 1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-3-methyl-5-phenyl-4-trifluoromethylthio-pyrazole are obtained as an oil.
