Benzhydryl 2-(2-tritylaminothiazol-4-yl)-(Z)-2-(1-(4-nitrobenzyl)oxycarbonylcyclohexyloxyimino)acetate (1.3 g) was treated with aqueous formic acid as described in Example 23d to give the title compound (0.58 g, 85%) as a white solid. m.p. 184°-185° C., [Found: C: 50.94; H: 4.56; N: 12.48. C19H20N4O7S requires C: 50.89; H: 4.50; N: 12.49%] νmax (KBr) 3358, 2939, 1735, 1608, 1515, and 1346 cm-1, δH (CDCl3) 1.28 (1H, m), 1.52 (5H, m), 1.78 (2H, m), 2.01 (2H, m), 5.34 (2H, s), 6.80 (1H, s), 7.31 (2H, br s), 7.63 (2H, d), and 8.13 (2H, d).
