Reaction Steps
Reaction of ethyl 4-(2-ethoxycarbonylbenzyloxy)-α-methylphenylacetate with potassium hydroxide by the method described in Example 1c provides colorless crystals, m.p. 145°-146° C. of 4-(2-carboxybenzyloxy)-α-methylphenylacetic acid.
