A solution of 1.0 g of ethyl α-[2-chloro-4-(2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-5-methyl-3-oxo-1,2,4-triazin-6-yl)phenoxy]acetate (prepared as described in Example 5) and 0.39 g of 80% hydrazine hydrate in 10 ml of ethanol was stirred on an oil bath kept at 105° C. for 4 hours. The mixture was then cooled, after which the crystals which precipitated were collected by filtration and recrystallized from ethanol, to give 0.73 g of the title compound as white crystals melting at 252°-254° C.
