2-Amino-5-(2-cyclohexylethyl)-[1,3,4]thiadiazole (9.50 g) and 21.8 g of 2,4,6-trichlorophenyl malonate were stirred in 70 ml of xylene at a bath temperature of from 140° to 150° C. for 2 hours. After cooling, the precipitate formed was collected by filtration and washed successively with ethanol and diethyl ether to obtain 10.3 g of 2-(2-cyclohexylethyl)-7-hydroxy-5H-[1,3,4]thiadiazolo[3,2-a]pyrimidin-5-one as a colorless plate-like crystal.
