Procedure

An ice cold sample of 100 mg (0.192 mmol) of 1-[((1S, 2S)2-Benzyloxy-cyclohexylcarbamoyl)-methyl]-5-(4-methoxy-benzyloxy)-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (2) was treated with 5 mL of 95:5 trifluoroacetic acid (TFA):H2O solution, and the resulting mixture was stirred for 1.5 h at rt, and then quenched by the addition of 5 mL of 1:1 acetonitrile:water solution. The mixture was concentrated to give 66 mg (86%) of crude 1-[((1S, 2S)2-benzyloxy-cyclohexylcarbamoyl)-methyl]-5-hydroxy-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (3) which was used without any further purification in the next reaction.
