This phenol from Example 6A was dissolved in DMF (4.0 mL) and N,N-Diethyl-benzene-1,4-diamine sulfate (602 mg, 2.3 mmol), Et3N (707 mg, 7.0 mmol), and TBTU (738 mg, 2.3 mmol) were added at ambient temperature. The mixture was stirred overnight and purified by silica gel column chromatography to provide 8-hydroxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-naphthalene-2-carboxylic acid (4-diethylamino-phenyl)-amide (480 mg, 62%).
