The title compound is prepared by alkylation of the (RS)-1-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-5-oxo-pyrrolidine-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester with 2,3,6-trifluorobenzyl bromide giving the (RS)-5-oxo-1-[4-(2,3,6-trifluoro-benzyloxy)-phenyl]-pyrrolidine-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester as a light yellow solid [73% of theory, MS: m/e=379 (M+H)+], which, thereupon, by treatment with methylamine yields the (RS)-5-oxo-1-[4-(2,3,6-trifluoro-benzyl-oxy)-phenyl]-pyrrolidine-3-carboxylic acid methylamide. Yield: 64% of theory as a white solid. MS: m/e=379 (M+H)+.
