5-(5,6-Dimethoxy-3-methyl-1,4-benzoquinon-2-yl)methyl-2-(2-methoxyphenyl) benzoic acid (66 mg, 0.1563 mmol) was dissolved in methylene chloride (5 ml), then p-anisidine (38 mg, 0.3089 mmol), triethylamine (47 mg, 0.4653 mmol) and 2-chloro-1,3-dimethylimidazolinium chloride (53 mg, 0.3136 mmol) were added thereto at room temperature and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 16 hours. The reaction solution was poured into water and extracted with ethyl acetate. The extract was washed with water and dried and the solvent was evaporated therefrom. The residue was purified by preparative thin layer silica gel (hexane:ethyl acetate=1:1) to give the title compound (38 mg, 0.0721 mmol, 46%).
