To a solution of 4-azidomethyl-N-methoxy-benzamidine (11.3 g, 0.055 mol; see step (i) above) in 200 mL of ethanol was added 200 mg of PtO2. The mixture was hydrogenated with constant bubbling ofhydrogen for 4 h and subsequently filtered through Celite® and evaporated. Yield: 7.34 g (74%).
