To a solution under Ar of (RS)-(2,6-difluoro-3-hydroxy-phenyl)-ethoxy-acetic acid ethyl ester (320 mg) in CH2Cl2 (10 ml) was added copper(II)acetate (230 mg), 4-fluorobenzeneboronic acid 516 mg) and powdered MS4 Å (2 g). After addition of triethlyamine (622 mg) the mixture was stirred 40 h at rt. The solids were filtered away and the solvent was evaporated. Column chromatography (CC) (AcOEt:Hept 1:9 to 1:1) afforded 154 mg of (RS)-[2,6-difluoro-3-(4-fluoro-phenoxy)-phenyl]-ethoxy-acetic acid ethyl ester as a brownish oil.
