Hydrazine monohydrate (1 mL, 20.6 mmol) was added to a suspension of methyl[3-{[(2-chloro-6H-thieno[2,3-b]pyrrol-5-yl)carbonyl]amino}-2-oxo-3,4-dihydroquinolin-1(2H)-yl]acetate (Example 1); 221 mg, 0.53 mmol) in EtOH (10 mL) and heated to reflux for 20 hours. On cooling the mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure and H2O (20 mL) added and the white precipitate filtered off and dried in vacuo to give the title product (169 mg, 76%) as an off white solid.
