Reaction Steps

A mixture of trans,trans-8,10-dodecadien-1-ol (1.82 g), triethylamine (3.5 ml) and triethyl-chlorosilane (1.85 ml) is held at 25° C. for 15 hours. After dilution of the mixture with hexane (100 ml), it is thoroughly washed with ice-water (3×50 ml), dried (CaSO4), concentrated by evaporation and distilled. The title compound is obtained in the boiling range of 107° to 112° C. (nD20 =1.4697).
