Reaction Steps

A suspension mixture of 1-(1-benzyl-4-piperidinyl)-2-(4-methylpiperazinyl)-1H-benzimidazole (4.62 g, 11.86 mmol) and Pd(OH)2/C (2.35 g) in MeOH(100 ml) was stirred under hydrogen atmosphere at room temperature for 23 h. The catalyst was removed by filtration and the filtrate was concentrated to give 3.10 g (87%) of title compound as white solid.
