Reaction Steps

Following General Procedure E, ethyl 5-(4-ethylphenyl)-3-methyl-6-phenylpyridine-2-carboxylate (Compound 26, 29 mg, 0.08 mmol) and conc. H2SO4 (3 drops) in MeOH (5 ml) were reacted to produce the title compound as an oil.
