A suspension containing 0.96 g of 4-(4-ethoxycarbonyl-1-piperazinyl)-2-methyl-6,7-dihydro-8H-pyrimido[5,4-b][1,4]oxazin-7-one (Example 1), 25 ml of methyl ethyl ketone, 0.5 g of anhydrous potassium carbonate and 0.31 g of chloroacetamide is boiled under stirring for 8 hours, filtered as hot, washed with methyl ethyl ketone and this filtrate is set aside. The precipitate is washed with water, then with ether and dried to give 0.65 g of the product, m.p.: 225°-227° C.
