To a solution of (R)-5-[3-tert-butoxycarbonylamino-4-(2,4,5-trifluoro-phenyl)-butyryl]-5,6-dihydro-4H-2,5,10b triaza-benzo[e]azulene-3-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (100 mg, 0.174 mmol) in DCM (5 mL), was added trifluoroacetic acid (0.52 mL, 3 mL/mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at r.t. for 1 h. After completion of the reaction, as confirmed by TLC, excess of trifluoroacetic acid and DCM were evaporated in vacuo to afford a gummy solid which was crystallised from hexane to afford trifluoroacetic acid salt of 5-[(R)-3-amino-4-(2,4,5-trifluoro-phenyl)-butyryl]-5,6-dihydro-4H-2,5,10b-triaza-benzo[e]azulene-3-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (80 mg, 79%).
