Reaction Steps
A mixture of 4-{5-[(4-chlorophenyl)thio]-1-methyl-2-phenyl-1H-imidazol-4-yl}benzamide (Example 71, 35 mg, 0.083 mmol) in 3 mL of dimethylformamide-dimethylacetal was heated at 120° C. for 30 min. The volatiles were removed to afford 4-{5-[(4-chlorophenyl)thio]-1-methyl-2-phenyl-1H-imidazol-4-yl}-N-[(1E)-(dimethylamino)methylene]benzamide, which was used in the next step without further purification.
