To a solution of methyl 3-(5-methylpyridin-2-yl)-5-(1,3-oxazol-2-yl)benzoate (0.96 g, 3.26 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (20 mL) at 20° C. was added 20 mL of 0.5 N sodium hydroxide solution. After 16 h at 20° C., the reaction was quenched with 4N HCl in dioxane (5 mL). The titled compound was precipitated out as hydrochloride salt. After filtration, washed by 100 mL of ethyl ether twice and died under vacuum, the titled compound was obtained as pure hydrochloride salt (1.2 g). MS 281.0 (M+1).
