3-[3-(4-Isopropyl-benzenesulfonylamino)-phenyl]-pyrrolidine-1-carboxylic acid methyl ester (900 mg, 1.13 mmol) and HCl (8M, 273.90 mmol) in EtOH (20 ml) were heated to reflux for 48 h. The mixture was extracted twice with ethyl acetate and then NaOH (2M) was added. The aqueous phase was extracted twice with ethyl acetate. The combined organic layers were washed with water and saturated sodium chloride solution, dried over MgSO4 and evaporated under reduced pressure to give the product as a brown oil (100 mg, 13%).
