tert-Butyl ((1R,3S)-3-isopropyl-3-{[5-(trifluoromethyl)-3′,6′-dihydro-3,4′-bipyridin-1′(2′H)-yl]carbonyl}cyclopentyl)carbamate (24.0 mg, 0.0498 mmol) was dissolved in a 4 M solution of HCl in 1,4-dioxane (2.0 mL) to form a light yellow clear solution. After being stirred at room temperature for 1 h, the reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo. The residue was treated with a 1 M solution of NaOH and the solution was extracted with methylene chloride three times. The extracts were dried, filtered and concentrated to provide 28 mg of product as a light yellow solid. LC-MS calculated for C20H26F3N3O: (M+H) 382; found 382.1.
