5M NaOH (2 mL, 10 mmol) was added to 2-Methanesulfonyl-7-pyridin-2-yl-pyrrolo[2,1-f][1,2,4]triazine and the reaction was stirred and heated at 80° C. overnight. The reaction was let cool to room temperature and HCl was then added dropwise to the reaction mixture to precipitate the product (pH 1), which was filtered immediately and washed with water and left on vacuum overnight to give 7-Pyridin-2-yl-pyrrolo[2,1-f][1,2,4]triazin-2-ol (100 mg, 66% over two steps). 1H-NMR (DMSO-d6): 11.89 (s, 1H), 9.05 (s, 1H), 8.83 (d, 1H, J=7.91 Hz), 8.69 (d, 1H, J=4.74 Hz), 7.96 (t, 1H, J=7.69 Hz), 7.53 (d, 1H, J=4.86 Hz), 7.35 (t, 1H, J=4.86 Hz), 7.04 (d, 1H, J=4.86 Hz).
