2-{[4-(3-Methoxypropoxy)-3-methylpyridin-2-yl]methylsulfinyl}-1H-benzimidazole sodium salt (7.0 g) was dissolved in ethyl acetate (3 ml), and acetone (3 ml) was added thereto, and the mixture was stirred at 5° C. for 12 hours. The precipitated white crystals were filtered and dried to give the title compound (5.9 g).
