Reaction Steps

To a suspension of methyl 4-[[[4-(3-methylphenyl)-5-(4-pyrimidinyl)-1,3-thiazol-2-yl]amino]carbonyl]benzoate (0.50 g, 1.2 mmol) in ethanol (10 mL) was added 2N aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (1.2 mL), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hrs. The reaction mixture was acidified with 2N hydrochloric acid and the precipitated solids were collected by filtration. Crude crystals were washed with water and dried to give the title compound (0.40 g, yield 0.82%).
