A mixture of 2-(methylsulfonyl)-4-[4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]pyrimidine (0.3 g, 1 mmol), N,N-diisopropylethylamine (0.18 mL, 1 mmol) and ethyl {4-[(butylamino)methyl]-2-methylphenoxy}acetate (0.424 g, 1.53 mmol) was heated at 100° C. in a sealed reactivial for 18 h. The residue was dissolved in CH2Cl2 and purified by Biotage™ chromatography (Silica, 40 g) eluting 3:97 EtOAc:cyclohexane to afford the title compound as a pale yellow oil (110 mg).
