A 1N-hydrochloric acid/ether solution (5 ml) was added to a solution of N-(4-piperidinyl)-1H-indazol-5-amine (433 mg, 2.00 mmol) in a mixture of chloroform (4 ml) and methanol (4 ml) at room temperature and stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes. The solid precipitated was collected by filtration and recrystallized from a mixture of chloroform and methanol to obtain N-(4-piperidinyl)-1H-indazol-5-amine dihydrochloride monohydrate (2.86 g, 72%).
