Procedure

2,2,2-Trichloro-1-[10-cyclohexyl-benzoyl)-pyrrolo[2,1-c][1,4]benzodiazepin-3-yl]-1-ethanone of Example 7 (0.60 g) was added to a pressure flask containing concentrated ammonium hydroxide (25 mL) and absolute ethanol (25 mL). The mixture was heated in an oil bath held at 110° C. for four hours. On cooling the title compound crystallized out and was filtered off to provide colorless crystals (0.66 g), m.p. 122–123° C.
