5-(6-Chloro-pyridin-3-yl)-2,4-dimethoxy-pyrimidine (Prep90, 4.17 mmol) was dissolved in MeOH (30 ml) and then 2N HClaq (10 ml) was added. After refluxing the reaction mixture for 4 hours, the solvent was removed under vacuum to give 1.05 g of the title compound (quantitative yield).
