69.2 g (100 mmol) of 10-(3-benzylmethylamino-2-hydroxypropyl)-1,4,7-tris-(tert-butoxycarbonylmethyl)-1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane is dissolved in 500 ml of methanol, mixed with 40 ml of water, and 10 g of palladium catalyst (20% Pd/C) is added. It is hydrogenated for 8 hours at 50° C. under normal pressure. Catalyst is filtered out, and the filtrate is evaporated to the dry state in a vacuum.
