5-(2-Fluoro-5-methyl-pyridin-3-yl)-1-(3,3-dimethoxy-propyl)-1H-pyrimidine-2,4-dione (Prep100, 200 mg, 0.62 mmol) was dissolved in THF (5 ml) and 2N HClaq (1 ml) was added. The solution was stirred at room temperature for 3 hours. The reaction mixture was neutralized with TEA (278 μl, 2 mmol). Water was added and the product extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic phase was dried (Na2SO4), filtered and evaporated to give 150 mg of a colorless oil (88% yield).
