A mixture of 3-benzo[b]thiophen-2-yl-1-perhydro-2H-pyran-2-yl-1H-indazole-5-carboxamide (126 mg, 0.334 mmol), 10.0 mL of MeOH, and 10.0 mL of 6.0 N aq. HCl were heated at 65° C. for 24 h. The reaction mixture was added dropwise to 50 mL of 6.0 N aq. NaOH with stirring. This mixture was extracted with 3×EtOAc and the combined organics were dried (Na2SO4). Purification by silica gel chromatography using 30–40% EtOAc in hexanes afforded the title compound (27.0 mg, 26% yield): 1H NMR (DMSO-d6) δ 13.75 (br s, 1H), 8.84 (s, 1H), 8.19 (s, 1H), 8.15–7.95 (m, 3H), 7.74 (d, 1H), 7.45–7.35 (m, 2H), 3.94 (s, 3H); ES-MS (m/z) 378 [M+1]+.
