1-(3,3-Dimethoxy-propyl)-5-pyrazin-2-yl-1H-pyrimidine-2,4-dione (Prep126, 111 mg, 0.38 mmol) was dissolved in THF (4 ml) and then 1N HClaq (0.38 ml) was added. The solution was stirred at 40° C. for 4 hours. TEA (55 μl, 0.39 mmol) was added and the solvent was removed in vacuum at room temperature. Residue was freeze dried to give a white powder that was used in the next step without further purification (quantitative yield).
