Procedure

1,3-Dihydro-2H-indol-2-one (35.6 g, 0.268 mol) suspended in acetic anhydride (30 mls) and mixture refluxed for 20 hours. Filtered and washed with diethyl ether (50 mls) dried in vacuo at 80 deg C. to give a solid.
