4-But-3-ynylimidazole HCl was prepared from the deprotection of compound 26 by treatment with 2N HCl. ##STR76## 4-But-3-ynylimidazole (45) 1H-NMR (300 MHz, CD3OD): δ8.90 (s, 1H), 7.40 (s, 1H), 2.95 (t, J=6.9 Hz, 2H), 2.60 (dt, J=2.4 and 6.9 Hz, 2H), 2.40 (t, J=2.7 Hz, 1H); Mass Spectrum (Cl) m/e 121 (M+1).
