Reagents, catalysts & solvents 1
Procedure
The product (1.8 g) of Stage 2 was dissolved in dry methanol (20 ml) and sodium hydride (100 mgs) added portionwise to this solution at 0°. After stirring at 0° for 1 hour the methanol was removedin vacuo and the residue washed several times with water to give a white crystalline solid which recrystallised from petroleum ether/ethanol to give the title compound, m.p. 142°-5°.
Workup
- washthe residue washed several times with water
- customto give a white crystalline solid which
